Get to Know Red Bud, Illinois

Red Bud, Illinois offers a unique blend of small town living, great schools, retail establishments, services, and industry that is often found in much larger communities. Our citizens have a true sense of spirit, service, and civic pride to their community.

The beautiful Red Bud City Hall on East Market was built in 1894. The contractor was Fred Droege of Red Bud whose low bid was $8,000. The historic building has had several renovations. In 1997 the outside received a major facelift. Plans were made for an extensive renovation of the first and second floor. In November of 2005 this renovation was completed at a cost of $1,200,000.

Red Bud’s Chamber of Commerce hosts several annual events throughout the year. Deerfest and Holiday Happenings in November and Fireman’s Picnic in June.

Major industries here include Red Bud Industries, The Material Works, Ltd., Roeslein and Associates, Total Titanium, Secon Rubber and Plastics, Ultra Play Systems, Southern Illinois Crankshaft and Eagle Stone.

Red Bud has an excellent educational system, from preschool through college, including Red Bud High School, Red Bud Elementary School, St. John the Baptist Catholic School, St. John’s Lutheran School, Trinity Lutheran School (Prairie) and Southwestern Illinois College-Red Bud Campus. Most of the elementary schools provide preschools and some have day care. There are also two private day care facilities.

Churches serving the area are St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church (Prairie), St. Peter United Church of Christ, Church of Christ, First Baptist Church and Promise of Living Water Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

Recreational facilities include the Red Bud Sports Complex for softball and baseball, North County Country Club, Red Bud Swimming Pool, Ratz Memorial Park, Lincoln Park with a walking trail, tennis courts, basketball courts, ball field, soccer field skateboard ramps and the Musket football field.
